Tusaiwe Munkhondya is a young woman from Malawi, who dedicates her life to helping others in need, despite her rough journey through life. She started supporting young women four years ago and is still supporting them. Her charity initiative is YANA .

Under YANA, Tusaiwe ruñs three schools for children and has a home for homeless young women. As at 2022, Tusaiwe already had thirty-three children who she looked after.

How it all started.

At only eighteen years old, Tusaiwe was chased out of her father’s house with a little son. She got pregnant at only eighteen and managed to live there for two before they were both made to leave the house and live on the streets.

Tusa as she is fondly called, decided to take care of young women like her. And she began with one sister in 2016. By 2021, she initiated YANA. An initiative to care for orphans by building a school for them. Gradually, the schools grew to three.

Soon, our “Mary Slessor” realized that the ladies and children were starving. She could no longer afford to feed them and so, Tusaiwe bought land from the government. Actually, her government appreciates what Tusaiwe is doing and supports her.

Tusaiwe Munkhondya at only 25 has achieved so much but is still on about the need to improve the lot of the children on the streets.

Here is a brief peek into the life of Tusaiwe.

Ms Tusaiwe Munkhondya was only sixteen years old when she got pregnant. Sadly, the parents turned her out and the true struggle began. But she fought back at homelessness. Through hurt and pain she provided succor for others.
