Beatrice Njoya of Malta is Miss Universe Malta 2024 and the oldest Miss Universe contestant so far. She is forty years old and has three children. She won the title on the 10th of July, 2024 and will represent Malta in Mexico on the 17th of November, 2024.

To start with , Beatrice Njoya is a Camerounian who settled in Malta. And like Nigeria’s Chidinma Adetshina, some Maltese protested her representing them because she is not a born Maltese. The organization stipulated that she has spent over six months in Malta and is quite eligible to represent them.

Furthermore, Beatrice Njoya says she has made Malta her home, is raising her children there and pays her taxes. Apart from that, she has spent seven years in Malta. Therefore, she says, she has every right to represent Malta.

On the other hand, Njoya is a model. She began modelling at eighteen years old in Cameroun. She even made it up to the semi-finals at the Miss Cameroun contest in 2002. On being called black, she said there is nothing wrong with that because that is her skin colour. She said she takes no offense for that.

Lastly, Beatrice Njoya is a domestic abuse survivor who does not like to talk about it. She separated from her French husband in 2017 after they arrived Malta. She hopes to make history by bringing home the Miss Universe title.
